T-Mobile Germany cut 8GB iPhone price to $155

T-Mobile Germany have surprised many by dropping the price of the 8GB iPhone.  New customers will now be able to pick up the handset for just €99 ($155), assuming they’re willing to sign up to a two-year, €89 ($139) a month contract.  The plan, called Complete XL, includes 1,000 voice minutes, 300 SMS messages and unlimited Net use via both EDGE and T-Mobile’s WiFi hotspots.  Apparently the plan will be available amoung April 7th and June 30th.

The carrier has additionally announced a new iPhone plan at the

other end of the price scale.  Complete S is priced at €29 ($45) a month, and includes 50 minutes and 500MB of EDGE info; no SMS messages are bundled, and WiFi access at T-Mobile hotspots is a paid additional.  The iPhone itself costs €249 ($389).

It’s unclear whether this is a response to the rumored less-than-expected sales of the iPhone in Europe, or a sign that carriers are attempting to clear excess stock in preparation for the 3G iPhone.
